How to make fruit pieces from clay

| On
Sunday, 20 January 2013
This is my second tutorial for my Sweets Deco Series, the reason I made this tutorial because I personally like to decorate with them and it is not that hard to make. I want to share my experience to everyone so they can also make them instead of buying. When I first start making sweets deco, I aways want to make realistic fruits, but it is not easy to find the 'how'. After searching on the internet and research on other artists's creation I finally figured out the way to make it. It is easier than you think, so please do give it a try! I hope this would help all the clay crafters out there, and hope you enjoy this tutorial!

I used homemade cold porcelain clay, and coloured them with acrylic paint. I make lots of fruits at a time and let them sit on a foam board to air dry for one day. These are not big objects so it dries fast however it also depends on the humidity of the area you are in.
These are the blueberries I made after filming the video because I had left over clay. The photo doesn't look nice to me because of the red stain on the toothpick left by the strawberries. =^=

So here is the tutorial, enjoy!

Happy crafting!

Fancy Fruit Macaroon Charm

| On
Sunday, 23 December 2012
This is the most fancy macaroon charm I have decorated, and I really like it!! I like to have alot of fruit pieces, the chocolates and sprinkles made it extra cute! I feel more confident in decorating now, I used to make so much of these bases and tarts but was scared to put them all together. The total time to make this charm all together took me about one hour to one and half hour, excluding the drying time ( I used homemade cold porcelain clay, it is an air drying type). I am really excited to make more of these.

This is now available in my shop!

And a little promotion here, type in: HAPPYPUFF to get 25% off total sale!

More cute crafts coming soon, have a Merry Christmas!!

Strawberry Field

For the first post, I want to share an old work of mine, the work was inspired by the coming spring.

I have used a variety of materials for this deco piece, it includes the Japanese Hearty paper clay, Crayola Model Magic, and silicone.  The silicone was harder than I thought, it got really messy and I had to wipe it off and started pipping again as the whipped cream. I was really happy with the end result even though the durability of the paper clay wasn't as strong as polymer clay, maybe that would be my next material to investigate on.
